Leadership Positions

Founder and Leader of Packer History Club | Sep 2019 – June 2022

Founded and lead Packer’s History Club, a chapter of the National History Club. We watch videos, read articles, have discussions about historical and current events, etc.

Packer COVID-19 Oral Histories Project | Apr 2020 – Dec 2020 Within History Club, the Oral Histories Project documents the Packer community’s experience with COVID-19 through virtual interviews posted on our website and archived the Brooklyn Historical Society. https://sadiesadler.com/packer-covid-19-oral-histories/ I scripted, coordinated, and conducted interviews, managed group of five other interviewers, transcribed select parts of each interview, worked with the Packer Prism (student-run school newspaper) to publish select clips and transcriptions of each interview on the Packer Prism website, and helped the Packer Communications Team to create a feature in the Packer Magazine of the Project.

History Department Hiring Committee Student Liaison | March 2021 – June 2022

Created and facilitated groups of students to interview candidates for the upper school history teacher position; consolidated and reported back to hiring committee on the student feedback

Middle School and Lower School Correspondent/Editor for literary and art print magazine. As EIC, set creative vision and lead production of magazine.

Boundaries and Sexual Misconduct Taskforce Member/Boundaries and Sexual Education Committee Leader| Sep 2020 – June 2022

Worked with group of students and administration to rework and clarify Packer’s boundaries guidelines for students and adults; led the community in discussions about appropriate behaviors.

Students for Diversity and Equity in Communications Team founder and leader| June 2020 – June 2022

Worked with Communications Department at Packer to address emerging and existing racial issues on Packer’s website and social media accounts. Helped collect and curate content.

Asian affinity space in which students discuss experiences being Asian American and celebrate Asian culture.

Upper School Girls Varsity Swim team member and captain at Packer; won first place in 2018, 2019, and 2022 and second place in 2020.

Citizens Action Network Club Leader| July 2020 – June 2021

Focus on current political events and engage in governmental and civic advocacy, such as the Voting in Pennsylvania Initiative where we offered Pennsylvanians information through social media about voting in their state, and volunteered through the organization VoteForward to write 80 letters to voters in Pennsylvania. Also led workshop about NYC Mayoral candidates and rank choice voting.

Partnership with Sacred Valley Health, a non-governmental organization in Peru that offers medical aid to the local community, to fundraise and educate others about Sacred Valley and global health inequities.

Student-run coalition for the Black Lives Matter Movement to fundraise, facilitate discussions about the movement, and work with other external organizations to hold special events to further raise awareness and take action.

Summer Programs    

Urban Word Summer Institute – July 2020 – Aug 2020

Participated in two week virtual intensive seminar on spoken word and stand up poetry. Wrote and performed original pieces with guidance from 2020 National Youth Poet Laureate as well as other celebrated stand up poets.

National Institute of American History and Democracy Pre-College Program at the College of William and Mary | June 2021 – July 2021

3 week virtual 200-level college course about early American history. Visited 12 historic sites, wrote 3 research papers, and read and discussed numerous primary and secondary sources.

Colorado Outward Bound School – Southwest Canoeing and Rafting | July 2021 – Aug 2021

2 week teen canoeing and rafting program on the Green River in Utah. Improved hard and interpersonal skills.
