In the spring of 2021, I wrote a creative memoir piece for my AT English class inspired by the book On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. My piece, titled Red Thread, is structured like a letter to my mom and is about the challenges and beauties of being in an interracial family. Red Thread won a regional silver key for the National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.
